Assignment #4- Into the Wild Movie

What parts of the story have been changed (has the order changed)?
Many things changed in the course movie regarding to the order.
The movie starts with his mom waking up in the middle of the night which, in the book is in chapter 12. The movie flashbacked to when he graduates college instead of flashing back in chapter 3 to when he went back to Carthage South Dakota. It skipped over chapter 2 as well. He wrote "Alexander Supertramp 1990" on the mirror of a bathroom with lipstick instead of carving it in the bus which was happened in the book. Jan Burres is a HUGE character in the movie. She is not that big of a character in the book. They left out where he almost died crossing the river and then gets lost. That was a significant part of the book. The movie emphasized him in Los Angeles. The movie's ending was based on the first book.

What images (shots) have the most impact?
One image that had a lot of impact on me was when it writes the actual words that were written in the postcards across the screen. Another image was the inside of the bus with all of the people who had lived in the bus belongings. The check with $24,500, him burning his money and cutting up his credit cards were all very impacting. When he is rafting through the river, the water was very wild which showed just how difficult and dangerous what Chris McCandless did was.

What parts of the film made the story clearer to you?
The movie showed how cold and difficult it was to walk in Alaska. This made the story more clear to me because it showed that Alaska is no walk in the park and McCandless thought it was.
